Massive Farmer’s Protest in Muzaffarnagar

Farmers from Western Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar district have been sitting on a protest demonstration at Muzaffarnagar Collectorate since 17 February, 2020. The farmers have various demands, the three most important being their long outstanding sugarcane dues which have not been paid to them by the mills. Secondly, controlling stray animals that are destroying their farms, and finally, curbing the corruption around electricity bills. The protest was called by Bhartiya Kisan Union under the leadership of Rakesh Tikait. Both, Hindu and Muslim farmers jointly participated in this protest. Women farmers also addressed the protest.
